Target species :

Calves, lambs, pigs and poultry.
Indications for use :

For the treatment and metaphylaxis of gastrointestinal infections in calves, lambs, pigs, and poultry caused by E. coli strains that are sensitive to colistin. Before administering metaphylactic treatment, the presence of the disease within the herd must be confirmed.
Contraindications :

Do not administer to horses, particularly foals, as colistin may disrupt the intestinal microbial balance, potentially leading to antimicrobial-associated colitis (e.g., Clostridium difficile colitis), which can be fatal.

 Dosage and route of administration :
Administer orally. The amount of medicated water consumed will vary based on the animal's health and condition. Adjust the colistin concentration to ensure the correct dosage.

 • Calves, Lambs, and Pigs: The recommended dose is 100,000 IU of colistin per kg of body weight daily for 3 to 5 consecutive days, either in milk, liquid feed, or drinking water (0.50 ml of solution per 10 kg body weight per day). If given orally, divide the daily dose into two administrations.

 • Poultry: The recommended dose is 75,000 IU of colistin per kg of body weight daily for 3 to 5 consecutive days, administered through drinking water (37.5 ml of solution per tonne of live weight per day). The duration of treatment should be kept to the shortest period required to address the infection.

Withdrawal period :

Meat and offal: 1 day.
Eggs : No withdrawal period (zero days).
